Standing in line for 5 hours just to get Book Of Mormon tickets, the hottest show on Broadway, may not seem like a little selfish entertainment but; if you go with the right frame of mind you can selfishly enjoy yourself at other’s expense.
If you are a fan of Comedy Central’s South Park, and the kind of humor in displays, Book Of Mormon should be right up your alley. Some see it as offensive; but those who understand it realize that its very offensiveness is what makes it funny in the first place. No one is spared. The church, Broadway, Disneyland, Africa… No one is safe. The show is an equal opportunity offender. But that’s why people love it.
The show opens with a song that brings practically everyone to their feet, called “Hello”. In fact you may find yourself humming various tunes from the show the next day as you putter about the house. The staging, acting and comedy in the show are superbly executed. One word of warning… Some kids are allowed to watch shows like South Park, some are not; Book Of Mormon is not a Broadway show to which you should bring the children. (Unless of course your children are over 18.)
